    Match Report: 09 - SuperSport United vs Jacaranda Callies

    The a much anticipated fixture between the 2 time defending champs SuperSport United against a highly rated Jacaranda Callies didn’t disappoint as it got off to a great start with both teams looking to get maximum points in the opening fixture.

    It was SuperSport United who managed to get the first goal of the match after poor defending from Jacaranda Callies led to SuperSport’s Ryan Manning converting from close range.

    Jacaranda Callies almost equalised after some fantastic play on the left flank led to the goal keeper of SuperSport United making a world class save to deny Katlego Phake a clear scoring opportunity.

    SuperSport United almost doubled their lead as Mervin Boji won a free kick on the left side which was taken perfectly by Jabu Matsio but failed to find any of his players inside the box.

    SuperSport United were looking to use the width of the field in order to try and frustrate Jacaranda Callies in the dying stages of the first-half.

    The half ended with SuperSport United leading by a single goal against a disappointing Jacaranda Callies.

    Jacaranda Callies made an instant change taking out Nelson Mosupyoe and bringing in Siphelele Nyuswa.

    SuperSport United had another opportunity to double their lead but Ryan Manning couldn’t convert a clear opportunity inside the 18 area.

    SuperSport United made their first substitution of the match by dropping Mervin Boji for the fresh legs of Yandisa Mfolozi.

    Jacaranda Callies’ Thuto Mogapi was the first player to go into the referees’ book as he got a yellow card after a horrible tackle on Ryan Manning of SuperSport United.

    Jacaranda Callies made another change by taking out Danny Letwaba for Olethabo Seroadi.

    The number of substitutions in the second-half of the game looked to have disturbed the tempo of the match as no clear opportunities were created by both teams toward the dying minutes of the encounter.

    SuperSport United won the match by a single goal to nil against Jacaranda Callies in an encounter which promised more than it actually delivered.
