Match Report - Game 61 - Cape Town City FC vs Glendene United

Cape Town City started the game positively creating an early goal scoring opportunity when Duncan Adonis played a throughball for Safwan Hendricks who laid it off for Taariq George, who finish but failed to do so as the goalkeeper made a fantastic save to stop the shot.
Another header by Taariq George form a forced the Glendene goalkeeper to make another fantastic save.
Glendene United had their own chance to take the lead as Sinesipho Ntumbukana’s shot on target was saved by Cape Town City’s goalkeeper.
The first half ended with both team not being able to convert any of the chances they created.
The second half began on a high with Glendene United being the more attacking team.
Glendene United were awarded a penalty kick after some lousy defending by Raphael Georgiades of Cape Town City. Minenhle Phewa converted the penalty to give Glendene United the lead.
Cape Town City equalised through Shane Roberts as he finished off a rebound coming from the goalkeeper as he failed to deal with Duncan Adonis freekick.
Glendene United were reduced to 10 men after their centre back Lorenzo Smith was sent off for his second booking of the match.
The game headed to extra time with Glendene United being a man down after 70 minutes of play.
The two teams couldn’t be separated by extra time and the game went to penalties.
Cape Town City were victorious on penalties after converting all their penalties while Glendene missed a single penalty to bow out of the competition.
