Mogakolodi Ngele's injury-time goal broke Free State Stars' hearts as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat against Platinum Stars at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Sunday.
The match looked destined to end the same way it had started, but Ngele popped up in the very last moments of the game to snatch the three points.
The result took Dikwena level on points to fourth, while Ea Lla Koto ended the weekend in the relegation zone, three points from safety.
The visitors looked to stamp some early authority on the game as Mongezi Bobe let fly in the opening minute, although he was unable to keep his shot on target as the ball fizzed wide of the mark, before Danny Venter hit his shot straight at Dikwena's keeper Siyabonga Mpontshane.
Set plays looked to be the name of the game on the day, with both sides winning a series of corners and free-kicks, although neither were able to make the most of them as both goalkeepers remained largely untroubled.
Venter looked destined to break the deadlock in the closing stages of the first half as he ran through on goal before getting a shot away, but was unable to find a way past the keeper, who used his feet to deny the forward.
Dikwena coach Alan Freese looked to mix things up early in the second period and brought on Siphelele Mthembu, who almost made an instant impact as his fierce drive brought a fine save out of Tsepo Motsoeneng.
However, that proved one of the few chances after the break, although the one that mattered most came in the second minute of added time, with Ngele getting onto a pass from Robert Ng'ambi before neatly slotting home the winning goal.
